If You Feelin’ Like A Pimp [Word We Won’t Touch], Go And Brush Your Shoulders Off

What do you do when debate "moderators" spend 45 minutes surreally demanding that you explain why and for how long you've hated America and loved terrorism? Obviously, you get that dirt off your shoulder (via Spencer Ackerman, who correctly notes that this is the greatest cultural reference in the history of American electoral politics). Start watching at 2:00.

Obama's point is well-taken, though for the sake of balance as well as gender equity, we should note that ladies is pimps too, and it is perhaps a sign of the strides our society has made that so few people have remarked on the unprecedented levels of female representation in Congress. This might have been the year we finally elected a woman president, until the muh'fuckin' greatest turned up.

MSNBC's morning crew spent a couple of hours in puzzled incomprehension over the reference, until one of the "youngsters" on set said, "that's from Jay-Z." At which point, they nodded to indicate recognition, but pretty clearly were no better off at understanding the semiotics of brushing one's shoulders off, and now had to deal with a second mystery of just what this "Jay-Z" is.

What's the over/under on how long it takes an Obama opponent with a blog to suggest he was flashing gang signs?
