A Turkish lawyer is suing UEFA due to the fact that he feels that Inter Milan's cross bearing shirts were offensive.
This example is a great one to make my basic point: treating Muslims as if they are all connected is going to become very tiresome in light of the fact that there are 1.2 billion of them, and naturally, bound to contain very many complete and utter tools, who are quite often going to do some very stupid things (like this one). Under this lawyer's rationale, the freaking Turkish flag can be deemed to be offensive, since it bears the crescent, a sign of the Ottoman Empire (who weren't exactly peaceful). Actually, come to think of it, the very wearing of a soccer short could be deemed (by a fundo) to be insulting of Islam because devout Muslim men are not supposed to expose their knees! By the way, this Turk must not remember that their greatest empire was built due to the services of Christians soldiers (Janissaries) who, undoubtedly, considered crosses holy.
Anyway, before this piece of human stupidity is turned into "news" and used to chastise "the Muslim" I think we should put it in the category where it belongs.
Update I: There is at least one player of Bosnian-Muslim origin on Inter-Milan: Sweden's Ibrahimovic. Not sure if he's a practicing Muslim or not, but I think its close enough. I also bet he dates hotter women than the lawyer.
Update II: Here is the actual complaint by the lawyer. It talks about crusaders and such. Have fun. Its in English.
