Nick Fox-Gieg is an animator and theatrical designer living in The Hague. His short films have been shown at the Rotterdam and Ottawa film festivals, at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and on Canada’s CBC TV.
About The Story of Enoch, he says: “I’ve always been interested in the Gnostic Gospels, with their unusual twists on familiar stories. This short is a little riff on the character of Enoch, a contemporary of the Biblical Noah. Enoch receives a premonition of disaster, so he sets out to collect as many books as he can find, to preserve the knowledge of the world. But his premonition is less than complete–he doesn’t know that the disaster will be a Flood; he doesn’t know what form the destruction will take. And so, lacking reliable divine guidance, all his careful preparations come down to a straight-ahead, all-or-nothing gamble…. “
