unexisted things exist in my head

From unexisted things exist in my head, a 17 minute video installation of an Etch-A-Sketch in use, by Zohar Nir-Amitin.

This work deals with the rituals one creates in one’s head and executes into action. Thoughts or dreams one wants to believe exist, but knows they don’t; despite that, one acts according to them until he destroys them.

This project is all about one kind of self destruction. Or illusion. The title ‘Unexisted Things Exist In My Head’ embraces that tendency.

All the sentences are written on an Etch-A-Sketch board, which is a tool of creation of temporary imagery being formed and then erased by the creator.

Even though the questions are aimed towards a particular someone, (being repeatedly written and erased…) And even though they are fantastic, in fact it crosses almost everyone’s mind.

Zohar Nir-Amitin studied graphic design and printmaking at Wizo College of Design, Haifa, Israel, and at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Zohar’s works have been shown internationally. Her design and fine art works have been featured in numerous publications, such as The New York Times, Photo District News, NY ARTS Magazine, PC Magazine, among others.

  • This is the first time I checked out your blog, and honestly, compared to your other posts, Self-Publishing: The New Way or the Short-Cut? | Chronicles of A Broken Spirit is much more well-written! Keep up the good work. Regards, Ricardo Kosloski

  • Good post and a pleasant summation of the problem. My only problem with the analysis is given that much of the population joined the chorus of deregulatory mythology, given vested interest is inclined toward perpetuation of the current system and given a lack of a popular cheerleader for your arguments, I’m not seeing much in the way of change.
