Walkway Project To Create Unity In Old City

A new rootftop promenade linking the Jewish and Muslim quarters in the Old City in Jerusalem is being proposed by the Jewish Quarter Development Authority. Cost of the development is estimated at NIS 1 million.

According to Haaretz:

A million and a half tourists visit the Jewish Quarter and the Western Wall annually, but only about one third visit the other quarters. The company hopes the development of the promenade will change all that, with tourists first visiting the rooftops, and eventually the quarters as well.

Nissim Arazi, Director of the Development Company, sees the project as an opportunity for Jews, Muslims, and Christians to "come together" while at the same time "strengthening Jewish hold and Israeli sovereignty in the Old City."
