A few years back, Harvey and Bob Weinstein released "Bad Santa" and at most, were guilty of towing the line of decent taste by producing a pretty crapola film with some talented actors. This year, the Weinsteins are back with the slasher remake, "Black Christmas." The film has generated some controversial buzz around the internet, particularly among Mel Gibson-ites.
Leave it to a couple of Jewish boys from New York, Harvey and Bob Weinstein, and owner/founders of Miramax and Dimension Pictures, to weave a "Hollywood" story about the true meaning of Christmas and then premiere it on Christmas Day. This movie titled 'Black Christmas' is a "snuff" horror film that takes place on and around the Holiday of Christmas. I remember when the ADL (Anti-Defamation League) was all over Mel Gibson's 'Passion of Christ'; even though it tried to stay within the boundaries of historical accuracy. I'm sure the Weinsteins will get a pass on this one; even though its intent is to cheapen a Christian Holiday and a religious Holy Day with this kind of distasteful, money-grubbing crap. And, don't forget that 'Bad Santa' was another Weinstein original for Christmas.
