In this week’s edition of Baffling Music Videos Featuring Jews (you may recall last week’s gem), we have Shia LaBeouf transforming himself into a nude, weeping, occasionally violent modern dancer and butterfly collector. Not what you were expecting? Well, such is the weirdness baked into anything produced by Sigur Rós, the Icelandic band known for their dreamy, and sometimes oddly terrifying, soundscapes. In this very NSFW video for Sigur Rós’ song “Fjögur Píanó,” LaBeouf and Denna Thomsen dance in various stages of undress, rabidly lick glowing lollipops (which also have insects inside of them), fight, and paint each other’s naked bodies. All in all, it’s an interesting bit of work—kind of a high-gloss version of your neighbor’s video art piece that he’d really like you to come by and see, if only you didn’t have that thing, that appointment, that that that, the gas is on! and I need to wash my hair! and ohhh nooo …
