If you haven’t heard of the jam band The String Cheese Incident, that’s OK. You probably won’t need to hear of them again after this, an incident in which their drummer Michael Travis went on an anti-Semitic tirade on Facebook.

(Tablet contributor and self-described SCI fan Armin Rosen describes the group as a “lamer, less interesting, and less fun version of Phish.”)

A few days ago, in now-deleted posts, Travis proclaimed that “the Zionist banking cartel” is at the source of the world’s evils. The whole rant merits being reproduced outright; it’s a thing of beauty.

You’ve probably never heard of William Dudley Pelley, and it’s with good reason; despite his many ambitions, he never really amounted to much.

These ambitions were diverse and sometimes bizarre: Journalist, screenwriter, politician, mystic, advocate of Nazism into 1930s America. While some of these endeavors went better than others (he did write a couple of Lon Chaney films), he ultimately served a jail sentence for sedition and died in disgrace.

Yet, every villain is the hero of their own story, and a new play performing this weekend in New York by Andy Boyd, Seven Minutes in Eternity, lets Pelley become the author of his own narrative.

Have you ever seen an autobiographical theatre piece, perhaps with a charismatic, well-spoken lead/subject, but self-indulgent to the point of narcissism? This piece envisions what would happen if Pelley subjected audiences to such an experience.

The result is a roller coaster through Pelley’s life, strictly on his terms. This includes his career, relationships, and the divinely-inspired “discovery” that the Jews are behind the international spread of Communism. Since Pelley is a born American steeped in pulp Hollywood culture, he then sees himself, naturally, as Christ’s superhero, the last vanguard (other than Hitler, Franco, and Mussolini), against the Jewish Menace.

What ensues are struggles that would make Golden Age Superman jealous, albeit against the likes of a Golem, Franklin Roosevelt, Baron Rothschild, and the Elders of Zion themselves (Elder of Zion— put that on an acting resume).

Nathanael Taylor’s Pelley is a lot more likable than a certain orange presidential candidate, even as his fews manage to be even more twisted. Pelley begins the show reasonable, measured, quirky, yet well-meaning, but to call him an unreliable narrator is an understatement. The absurdism unfolding around him speaks more to his own bile than he does (not for a second are any of the racist conspiracies made believable).

This show asks in its tagline, “What is the difference between a Fascist supervillain… and us?” The answer seems to be, either a whole lot, or nothing. Strip down the views, and strip off the “Silver Shirt” that is his super-powered alter-ego, and you find a bitter, frustrated, man who wants to change his reality at any cost. That is no rare find. And that, not God-astral projection and super strength (as Pelley claims to have), are the real cause for fear.

So if you want a somewhat subversive July 4th weekend, complete with cartoonish Zionist elders, give the show a try.

At this point everybody realizes that Helen Thomas is a crazy old person who makes stupid anti-Jewish remarks, so it would seem that the only natural thing to do would be to put her on Joy Behar’s moderately successful television show, so she could go ahead and say more stupid, anti-Jewish things.

Thomas told Behar that once World War II ended, the Jews “didn’t have to go anywhere really, because they weren’t being persecuted anymore. But they were taking other people’s land.”  She also pointed out that she’d forgotten to mention that the Jews should go back to Russia (along with Poland and Germany) instead of making Israel their homeland.

Since it’s already established that Thomas is losing what little grip on reality she may have had as she gets older (and older, and older…), we should ask what was really the point of even having the 90-year-old reporter–one whose opinions have been greatly marginalized since her apparently self-imposed retirement—on Behar’s show in the first place?  It almost seems like a sad grab at attention by a show that hardly anybody cares about, on a network that is constantly failing and falling behind the other major news networks.

With that said, Helen Thomas is an icon that broke down gender walls that were put up in front of women journalists.  Helen Thomas is also a person who has never held back from asking tough questions.  But Helen Thomas is also a crazy old person who shouldn’t be given the chance to spew her idiotic rants, and CNN is guilty by association for letting her.

We thought that we could close out 2010 with the Zionist sharks in Egypt as the last of the really good anti-Semitic claptrap of the year.  Of course, we were wrong.

According to an interview with Walid Muhammad Hajj, a Sudanese man who was detained at Guantanamo Bay, Jewish witches were sent in to torture him and his fellow inmates.

Walid Muhammad Hajj: The most common method to wear down the brothers was witchcraft.

Interviewer: How did they do this?

Walid Muhammad Hajj: There were, of course, Jews among the [staff of] the Guantanamo Base, and they would set traps for the guys.

Interviewer: Give me an example of witchcraft.

Walid Muhammad Hajj: Witchcraft was used on most of the guys.

Interviewer: They would cast a spell on them?

Walid Muhammad Hajj: Yes, but by the grace of Allah, through frequent reading of the Koran and invocation of the names of Allah, they managed to withstand this.

The downside to this is that this is probably an example of what happens when a person is driven crazy by torture.  If it wasn’t for that, we’d probably be laughing our asses off at this.
