Pop-cultural mashups with Jewish holidays are obviously far from new. In this Passover season alone we have the Unofficial Hogwarts Haggadah, and new song parodies added to last year’s hit the Hamilton Haggadah. But what makes this take on Pesach different from all others? Its source of inspiration is that most quintessential voice of modern wisdom: Queen Bey.

Yes, the Beyonceder reminds us that the wisdom of our ancient traditions jive really well with lyrics from the reigning queen of pop… or is it the other way around?

For example:

And this year is really special, because not only can you purchase merch (available in both “Classic” and “Lemonade”) that has these amazing images (and more), but you can have them special for your seder. The tote bags work as afikomen covers, and apparently the mugs are great for drinking wine.

The creator of the Beyonceder is Amy Schiller, a writer, grad student, and mashup meme creator who brought you the Ryan-Gosling infused, “Hey Girl, Happy Hannukah.” Back in 2014, the portmanteau of “Beyoncé” and “seder,” popped into her head, and she decided she had to follow through. And to top it all off, last year on the evening of the second seder, Lemonade dropped. Still, Schiller admits that Bey and Passover are “not necessarily congruent.”

“Though she’s a very empowering individualist, she’s an individualist, and Passover is all about collective liberation and collective experience,” says Schiller of Ms. Knowles-Carter. “That said, certainly there are narratives in her songs about emancipation.”

Regardless, you can get a T-Shirt that says “I don’t think you ready for this jelly” with pictures of Passover’s ubiquitous fruit slices. For that alone, let’s make this the new Chanukah sweaters.

If you order by Thursday (March 30th), you can still get your merch in time for the holiday, because obviously you want to recline on a pillow that says “Next Year in Jerusalem” over Beyoncé’s recent pregnancy photo (or maybe on a picture of Moses in Nile with the caption “Surfbordt.” It’s really hard to decide).

You can also follow the Beyonceder through future punny memes on Tumblr, Twitter, and Instagram.

OK, just a couple more favorites:

Chag sameach, and next year at Coachella (…you know, since Beyoncé had to postpone her appearance there till 2018 due to her pregnancy).

Listen, we all need good news. And that can be rather hard to come by these days, especially if you’re, oh, I don’t know, a journalist who covers Jewish topics, and for every hopeful story about Jewish-Muslim solidarity you have to read ten about the White House dabbling in softcore Holocaust denial.

It’s not that Jewcy hasn’t been posting political articles (like this one, and this one, and this one). But we needed a break today.

And, like usual, Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter has perfect timing with an important announcement. The Queen took to Instagram today to let us know that Blue Ivy is about to be a big sister— twice:

We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over. We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes. – The Carters

Blessed, indeed. Just look at that photo. Beatific.

Of course, we already knew that Beyoncé is a matriarch of Biblical proportions, and this clinches it. To quote Genesis 25:23 (we admit somewhat out of context):

“Two nations are in thy womb.”

We do hope they get along better than Jacob and Esau, and that Beyoncé has an easier pregnancy than Rivkah did. But Rivkah is a fascinating figure— arguably the most proactive, badass of the Biblical matriarchs. If Bey were to emulate anyone in Genesis, it would be her. After all, both are devoted wives, mothers, women who know their own mind, holders of the record for most Grammy nominations by a female artist, etc.

Anyway, a tip for Jews wishing to congratulate Queen Bey— while few would take offense at being wished “Mazel Tov,” the proper response to news that someone is pregnant is “B’Sha’a Tovah.” It literally means, “At a good hour.” As in, let’s not tempt fate by congratulating good fortune preemptively, and may the baby (babies!!) come at the right time.

If this article still isn’t Jewish enough for you, we shall now express our feelings via gifs of Jewish actor Winona Ryder from her recent amazing facial expression experience:

B’Sha’a Tovah, Bey.

Nicki Minaj did a stellar impression of Beyonce on SNL this past weekend—so good, in fact, that the Jewish world totally overlooked her slightly-less-stellar-but-still-excellent Kim Kardashian impersonation, in which she revealed the big scoop of the holiday season, which we solemnly bring to you now: the story behind the Official Kim K Hanukkah card.

Dressed in a nude body-con dress, her luscious hair extensions cascading over her shoulders, Minaj-as-Kardashian patiently explained the truth behind her beloved/infamous nude photo shoot for Paper Magazine. Apparently, editors “forgot to put the backgrounds in so the photos are completely out of context,” and they’re actually all, like, super-noble public service announcements in service of the betterment of humanity! Like, her oil-slicked body is really “a warning about the new Keystone Pipeline.” And that crazy champagne-parabola pic is actually a “part of a math competition for high school seniors.” (“X equals full frontal!”)

And that final shot of Kardashian exuberantly facing the camera front on, breasts akimbo? “It was going to be my Hanukkah card for my Jewish friends,” Minaj cooed in Kim’s signature vocal fry register. “L’Chaim!”

Quoth Kim: that’s hot.

Beyonce took a break from her rigorous European tour schedule to visit the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam today. Judging by the photos posted to her Instagram account, it was an appropriately sombre affair, and no embarrassing Justin Bieber-esque gaffes were committed.

The Internet immediately broke into a frenzy of praise and analysis, the general tenor of which was: “Stars, they’re just like us: they visit Holocaust museums and feel sad!” This might seem like an absurd thing to Tweet about (and even sillier to blog about), but the cultural significance of the moment runs deeper than a “like” or two (or in this case, 648,000 Instagram “hearts”): millions of young people—many of whom might have only a superficial knowledge of the Holocaust—follow Beyonce on social media, and I’m guessing at least a few thousand of them will be curious enough to pick up a copy of The Diary of Anne Frank after seeing these photos. That can only be a good thing.

Writes Marc Tracy over at The New Republic:

As we scrolled through our Instagram feeds, past selfies and cat pictures, we were jarred to come across the world’s most famous pop star mugging with the iconic black-haired murdered Jewish girl. The Holocaust is jarring, and it serves us well to be jarred anew by it every so often. This picture allows us to recover our sense of wonder at its enormity and awfulness. Good for Beyoncé for putting us in that place.

Queen Bey, you’re all class.

Beyonce is the latest mega-star set to perform in Israel this summer.

Israel’s Channel 2 reported on Sunday that a concert was planned for June 15, though the venue hasn’t been confirmed and the date isn’t listed on Queen Bey’s website—yet. (Apparently Israeli production companies are bidding over who gets to put a ring on it right now.)

A petition calling on Beyonce to boycott Israel (now standard when a big international artist announces tour dates in Tel Aviv) is already circulating on Twitter. And like Lady Gaga, The Rolling Stones, and Justin Timberlake—who are all slated to perform in the holy land this summer—it seems unlikely she’ll change her plans.

Is this for real or scripted? I don’t know, and I don’t care—either way, it’s amazing.

In this video, which you should watch right now—right now—three grandmothers read the lyrics to Beyonce’s suuuuppper sexy “Drunk in Love.” (It’s the Kanye West remix, which features a nice little “Bound 2” shout-out. Even better!)

From their effusive snacking to their horrified facial expressions to their gleeful disdain, these women are a joy to watch. They ask some very pertinent questions, like “Why did you even put this out for me to see?” and “We never talked when we had sex, what’s with all this talking?” Collectively, they are a three-headed Ur-Bubbe.

If Baz Luhrmann ever decides to wreak havoc on Macbeth and set it in Boca Raton (PLEASE GOD), I want these grandmothers cast as the witches.

Not sure if I agree with their final verdict on the song (that’s a whole other essay someone’s probably already written for Jezebel), but it would be great if this became a regular series. Working title: Grumpy old Rap Geniuses.

A documentary based on the life and death of the late, great rebellious soul singer Amy Winehouse is sitting in the film incubator. Asif Kapadia, the award-winning director of Senna, will reportedly weave never-before-seen archival footage into his narrative of Winehouse’s musical ascent and tragic decline.

The Wino doc has yet to be titled, because it has yet to be sold—international buyers will bid at the Cannes Film Festival in May. According to the New York Times‘ ArtsBeat blog, the Winehouse family said that although they had been approached many times by filmmakers interested in telling Amy’s story, they believed Kapadia and the film’s producer, Gay-Rees, would “look at Amy’s story sensitively, honestly and without sensationalizing her.”

Winehouse, a London-born Jew, was found dead at her home from alcohol poisoning in July 2011 at the age of 27. No doubt the singer’s fans will be waiting with bated breath for a glimpse at the new footage—hopefully the film will bring with it some unreleased Winehouse tracks too.

In other Winehouse news, Beyonce recorded a version of the late artist’s hit song, “Back to Black” for the upcoming blockbuster film, The Great Gatsby, which Winehouse’s father, Mitch, was reportedly not happy about. “I don’t think she brings anything to it,” he told the British press, adding, “I wasn’t asked for my permission if they could record it.”

He has since agreed to its use in the film, but only if the studio pays up: “They have got to pay for the privilege, which is what they are doing. I can’t tell you how much it is but it’s a lot of money.”

If you’re part of the American Super Bowl-viewing public—or have a working Internet connection—you’ve seen Rubin Singer’s work, even if you have no idea who he is. The third-generation Russian designer created the show-stopping leather-and-python outfit that Beyonce Knowles wore during her mega-watt halftime performance, sending his high-fashion profile skyrocketing.

The Austrian-born designer, who’s worked with Knowles before, told me he was approached by her stylist about creating an outfit for her halftime performance. “I was elated and excited about it,” he said.

After all, designing for high-pressure gigs is literally in Singer’s blood—his father Alik designed costumes for the Bolshoi ballet and his grandfather dressed Soviet commanders. “I’m a third-generation Russian fashion designer,” he explained. “I’ve been around it all my life.”

Singer’s grandfather, for whom he was named, was a Polish Jew who defected to Russia and, revealing his skill as a designer, was asked to make a suit for a Soviet officer. That was his entrée into the political sphere, according to Singer, at which point he began a career dressing Soviet celebrities. “He became a famous Soviet designer,” Singer said.

Singer, an only child, moved from Paris to the United States when he was seven years old, and knew from a young age that he was destined for the family business. “I’ve grown up in this industry,” he said. “My dad taught me everything I know.”

“I told him to be a lawyer or something else,” Alik Singer told the New York Times in 1998. “Now he turns around and wants to be a designer. What can I say?” Luckily, the elder Singer has since embraced his son’s sartorial ambitions and now works with Rubin on his collection. Which is good, since their phones have probably been ringing off the hook ever since Knowles left the stage at the Superdome.

Here’s the full half-time performance:
