And this won’t be the first time the pop star has performed in Israel. He put on concerts in Tel Aviv in 2011 and later 2017, filling a venue of fifty thousand.

Unsurprisingly, the singer has already begun to receive backlash for his decision to perform in the Jewish state. “Justin Bieber performing in Israel is an In’Justice’ to the people of Palestine,” one Twitter user said.

Bieber won’t be the first artist to get blowback for announcing a show in the Israel. Several artists like Lana del Rey and Lorde cancelled their shows in Israel during heightened tensions between Israel and Palestinians in 2014. After the recent conflict in May, during which countless celebrities espoused anti-Israel views on social media, the reaction is expected.

As Israel becomes increasingly polarized, performing there is a statement, whether intentional or not. But either way, we’re excited Bieber is taking another trip to the Holy Land, and with his track record, we’re positive he will not disappoint.

As for Lana, Lorde, and the others: It’s not too late to say sorry…

Bieber was arrested on Thursday after police said they saw him speeding down a residential street in Miami Beach in a yellow Lamborghini alongside R&B singer, Khalil Amir Sharieff, speeding in his own red Lambo. Bieber was under the influence of pot, alcohol, prescription drugs AND was driving with an expired license. What a shmuck!

Here’s a video of Matisyahu’s adorable young son Shalom singing his father’s song “Live Like a Warrior,” which Matis the elder dutifully posted on YouTube. The boy, who appears to be growing peyes, smiles sweetly at the camera and says the song he’s singing is “by my daddy.”

BuzzFeed-ready publicity stunt? Maybe. But Matisyahu’s re-reinvention as stage dad might just be his best one yet: Mini ‘Yahu could totally be the next (next?) big thing in the pop game. After all, the Biebs will be almost 40 in popstar years by the time Shalom even gets bar mitzvahed.

While Sheldon Adelson might think Birthright is the only thing keeping American Judaism alive, fear not, young Jews: there is hope for us yet. The New York Post reports that Scooter Braun, the Emory dropout who made Justin Bieber the world’s biggest superstar, is dating Fuck Cancer founder Yael Cohen.

This uber-entrepreneurial Jewcy power couple is out to change the world, making big names for themselves in the process. Cohen, whose in-your-face organization aims to shift the way people view and talk about cancer by promoting education and early detection practices, was named one of Fast Company’s 100 Most Creative People in Business in 2012. The 26-year-old was born in South Africa and grew up in Vancouver (no doubt she’s a big fan of her compatriot Bieber). The Greenwich-bred Braun, meanwhile, who has referred to himself as “a camp counsellor for pop stars,” made this year’s Time 100 list. He also manages burgeoning acts like Carly Rae Jepsen and Psy—which means he’s partly responsible for the non-stop loop that is “Gangnam Style.” Thanks a lot, dude.

Cohen probably likes to discuss her passion, philanthropy. Luckily, Braun requires that all of Bieber’s investment deals contain a charitable component. And his younger brother Adam, a former Big Jewcy honoree, runs Pencils of Promise, a non-profit dedicated to building schools in the developing world. The Biebs, naturally, is a big supporter of the cause.

Something is troubling Rachel Shukert. Despite all of the bells and Steve Buscemi whistles, HBO’s Prohibition-era drama Boardwalk Empire just doesn’t do it for her. Why? “It’s because I want Boardwalk Empire to be a show all about the Jewish gangsters,” she explains. After all, they’re the most unpredictable characters on the show:

What we get on the show is just enough to whet my appetite. I thrill every time the legendary criminal mastermind Arnold Rothstein (played by the great Michael Stuhlbarg), the man who fixed the 1919 World Series and inspired the character of Meyer Wolfsheim in The Great Gatsby, appears on screen, demurely sipping a cup of coffee and smiling quietly at something known only to himself; why do we get him in such small doses, and mainly reacting to the machinations of Nucky Thompson, the world’s most sheepish crime boss? When Meyer Lansky (Anatol Yusuf) first showed up, I let out a Belieber-esque squeal; this season he’s playing second fiddle to Gyp Rosetti (Bobby Cannavale), your standard-issue maniac killer/sex pervert (he likes women to tie him up and choke him. Snore.) I was fascinated by the character of Manny Horvitz, the garrulous kosher-butcher-cum-bloodthirsty-gangster who calls everybody “boychik” and dry-ages his enemies on meat hooks in the deep freeze, until (spoiler alert!) they let the guy with half a face (who is Anjelica Huston’s nephew and even with his Phantom of the Opera mask on, is still attractive beyond all sense) blow him away in the first episode of the new season. That was five weeks ago. I’m still sitting shiva.
