For those of you who think that the bookshelves of "the People of the Book" are lined strictly with Torah, Talmud, Philip Roth, and The Jewish Book of Why, may want to start peeking at the Amazon list for "Jewish bestsellers," like the Jewish Literary Review did, it may surprise you.
While some of the obvious names and titles are on the list (Elie Wiesel, Maus, Harold S. Kushner), it would seem that Jews are still keen on old favorites (Alfred Kazin), but open to checking out the newbies (Jonathan Safran Foer, Joshua Braff).
So what does this list say about Jewish reading tastes? Eclectic? Open to new things? Still stuck on literature about the holocaust? Or really nothing at all?
