Insane Trayf Item of the Week: Bacon Coffin

J & D’s Foods, a company with the tagline “Everything should taste like bacon,” has unveiled its latest offering: a $3,000 bacon coffin. But wait—everything J & D’s Foods sells is kosher. And co-owners Justin Esch and Dave Lefkow got the idea for the company at a Jewish wedding.

According to the company’s website:

The “aha moment” came at a kosher wedding that Justin was attending in New York. He described the joys of bacon, and that we needed more of it, to a group of people who are restricted from eating it. He said that there should be a bacon condiment, and dubbed it “Bacon Salt.” It wasn’t until much later that we realized that we could actually kosher certify a salt that tasted like bacon.

The guys insist the bacon coffin isn’t an April Fools’ Day joke, and Esch says they’ve already sold one. Be careful though, they don’t accept returns.
