Doing It: The Week in Sex Writing

Celebrate the weekend with a list of the best sex writing from around the Internet (relatively safe for work):

  • Nerve teaches an online-dater how to give good profile. Money shot: “You use far! too! many! exclamation! points! in your profile. Enthusiasm is good, but show some grammatical restraint. One or two is acceptable. More than that, and you sound like you doodle unicorns when you're not worshipping Zac Efron and snorting Sudafed.”
  • Best Sex Writing 2008 is really good, and I say that not just because the editor, Rachel Kramer Bussel, is a Jewcy contributer. On her publisher’s website, she talks about putting together the book. Money shot: “I feel like I am seeing "Sex and the City" referenced everywhere, as if sex didn't exist before the show, and while I think it opened up a lot of conversations, there's so much more to sex than the world contained in that show.”
  • On Jezebel, Slut Machine explains the mechanics of female ejaculation, complete with a very realistic-looking diagram. Money shot: “When I first heard about female ejaculation, I thought it was a bullshit myth invented by women who accidentally pee during sex, and one supported by fetishists who wanted to believe in it — until it happened to me.”
  • Also on Jezebel, there’s a very necessary rejoinder to the “I’m a shiksa who loves Jewish men!” article in Radar this week. It’s not that the premise is ancient; it’s that its ubiquity totally leaves Jewish women out in the cold. Money shot (quoted from an article in Heeb): "A lot of non-Jewish girls [have come] up to me… how their Jewish boyfriends always told them that the girls they went to camp with gave better head." Seriously, how has this not permeated the pop culture? Also, how come Jewish girls don’t get to fetishize the non-Jewish boys right back?
  • Speaking of which, every time Matt Damon sings, an angel gets its wings.
