The Sunday Mazel: Jews With Un-Jewish Names

You know that saying "a Jew is a Jew"?  We love that saying. But when you troll through the Sunday papers looking for the best Jewish weddings, you really need more than that.

Obviously when Chelsea Clinton and Mark Mezvinsky tie the knot, and there’s a rabbi and priest pulling double official duties, we can guess who’s there for who.

But we aren’t going to talk about Bill and Hill’s little girl.  We also aren’t going to discuss how Flavorwire ran a piece on how to throw the perfect hipster wedding, and then the New York Times put one on the front page

No, we’re going to talk about Jews with the last name Lewis, because there aren’t many, but somehow, two of them are getting hitched.  At least we think they’re Jewish.  But honestly, who cares?  It’s the Sunday Mazel.  We give mazels out to everybody.

Anne Lewis traded rings with Josef Goldman in Princeton, N.J., and Ron Koenigsberg hooked it up with Danielle Lewis in Chatham, Mass. Nothing incredibly exciting, but we’re not only going to send this Sunday Mazel out to these two couples; this goes out to all folks with last names that might be Jewish.

Thanks for keeping us guessing.
