Some of you were certain of your path. Some made your choice begrudgingly, tears in your eyes. Some of you even refused to vote when faced with such a difficult choice.  It’s understandable, but there can only be one winner this year.  And so, we present to you… your champion:

That’s right, after extremely strong leads every other round of the competition, the Notorious R.B.G. kept it going when it mattered most.  All hail your victor, Ruth Bader Ginsburg: SCOTUS judge, feminist icon, Bubby. Notorious.

We’ve been through a lot over the past few weeks with Jewish Celebrity March Madness. We’ve seen underdogs rise and titans fall. Just last round we had to bid goodbye to both Natalie Portman and Bette Midler.

But now, the most difficult choice is upon us.

In this, our sixth and final round, we ask you to choose between two kickass native Brooklynites: Mel Brooks, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

So get out there and tell everyone you know why your pick should be our reigning 2017 Jewish Celebrity champion.

After three rounds with some really close competitions, Round 4 was almost entirely landslides! Andy Samberg, Gal Gadot, and Steven Spielberg all did really well up to this point, but you wouldn’t know it from how hard they fell.

The only person who came even close to their opponent and lost this round was Daveed Diggs. Let’s raise a glass to the rising star.

And so, our remaining Top 4 are now all the heaviest of hitters: Mel “The Man” Brooks, Natalie “Natch” Portman, Bette “Beat You” Midler, and the Notorious RBG (OK, that last nickname is real).

Who will win? Who will lose? Who’s the best at singing the blues (OK, probably Midler, but still)? We need your help to decide.

Round 3 of this bizarre tourney was harsh and unforgiving, like a 19th century schoolmaster before some Anne Shirley-type waltzes in and gently points out that you don’t need to strike children for them to learn in a classroom environment.

Anyway, what we mean to say is, Scarlett Johansson is gone. As is Daniel Radcliffe, Mayim Bialk, Lenny Kravitz, Rachel Bloom, Aly Raisman, Rachel Platten, and Mark Zuckerberg. A moment of respect for our fallen heroes…

OK, time to regroup. We’re voting to turn out remaining 8 into a Fab Four. That’s right; this is the quarterfinals. The competition is getting tighter. Choose wisely.

Another riveting round of Jewish Celebrity March Madness!

Round 2 was harsh and unforgiving, as we bid goodbye to the likes of James Franco, Amy Schumer, and Billy Joel (does this settle the current Joel debate once and for all?).

As we approach the Top 8 (Shmashing Shmoneh?), we call upon you to help out your favorite star! Why do you think they’re deserving of going all the way to the top? What makes them the Supreme Jewish Star? If your pick from this round moves on to Round 4, we may share your argument.

Well, that was exhausting.

Round One of our Jewish Celebrity March Madness had some predictable results (did anyone really think Jake Tapper could take the Notorious RBG?), but also some upsets, and some really close races.  Here’s a recap of just a few showdowns:

• Neither member of Broad City is making it past the first round! Abbi and Ilana won’t have to go head to head.
• Winona Ryder held a lead on Rachel Weisz until the last few hours of the competition, and then BOOM! Ditto a last-minute reversal taking the round from Paul Rudd and giving it to ScarJo.
• Bette vs. Babs? Dylan vs. Joel? Bette, and Joel, it turns out.
• In a stunning turn of events, Drake is out in the first round! Let’s hear it for Daveed Diggs!
• Bernie loses, yet again, though this was much closer than the 2016 primaries.

March Madness! It’s a thing in which basketball teams compete! People care!

Bless them, but the best MM competitions are pop cultural— like the one to pick the best Star Wars character, or especially the Muppets one.

So we here at Jewcy are having our own bracketed competition to pick our favorite Jewish celebrity of 2017— and we need your help to get us up to 64!

(OK; we can come up with 64 on our own, but it would be way too musical-theatre heavy.)

So who’s your favorite Jewish celebrity? They can be anything from actors, to athletes, to Supreme Court Justices, to daughters of the president (if you can think of any). As long as they’re famous, Jewish (patrilineal is OK if they identify as a Member of the Tribe), and preferably alive (sorry, Sarah Bernhardt), you can nominate them!

And how can you nominate a Jewish celebrity? There’s always commenting on this article, either here or on the Facebook link to this post. You can tweet at us. Heck, you can even message us on Tumblr. You can just shoot us a name, or you can give us a little explanation of why you’re nominating them; we may share it on the site.

We’ll announce the full bracket later this week, and then begin our head-to-head competition, as we go from 64, to 32, to 16, to 8, to 4, to 2, to ONE SUPREME JEWISH CELEBRITY OF THE YEAR.
