Juliet Linderman and I have worked together for quite some time now, and frankly, I’ve learned more from watching this 23-year-old editor of the Brooklyn newspaper, Greenpoint Gazette, than I’ve learned from just about any other writer I’ve had the honor of working with. Ms. Linderman, a native of San Francisco, is something of a throwback to a different kind of reporter, but with a fresh spin. She’s one-half Mike Royko and one-half Maximum Rock n’ Roll. She’s fiercely independent, has shown she’s not afraid to ask big time New York politicians tough questions, and she’s has a sensitive understanding of the human condition that is reminiscent of Studs Terkel. Here’s hoping the rest of the media world takes note of her quickly.
