From Hate Speech to High Art

What happens when a onetime white supremacist wants to change his ways, but he’s got piles of hate literature piled up all over his house? Well, in one Montana town, he donates it to the local human rights council in exchange for a one-way ticket out of town. Ken Toole, who runs the Montana Human Rights Network, came up with a way to dispose of all the pamphlets, books, and magazines: he approached the local museum about turning them into art. Museum staffers held a call for submissions and recieved a huge volume of interest from artists around the country. The results of their work can be seen here.
