Here are today’s top stories in no particular order:
- At least 98 people are dead and 15 are injured after an Indonesian military plane crashed, carrying soldiers and their families.
- The Pope is getting a Facebook. Enough said.
- American Idol fans will be screaming at or cheering with their TV sets tonight as the finale results show airs on Fox. I’m rooting for Kelly Clarkson. Wait, wrong season?
- In a half-House, M.D., half-MacGyver move, a quick-thinking Aussie doctor saved the life of a young boy by using a household drill to remove a blood clot from inside the boy’s skull. [Editor’s note: Didn’t this also happen on a ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ episode? I seem to recall Izzie boring a hole in some dude’s head with a drill while McSteamy talked her through it over the phone. Man, I have got to stop watching that show.]
- A Navy helicopter has crashed off the coast of California, leaving three dead and two others still missing.
- Dreamworks and Steven Spielberg have announced that they will be releasing a movie shadowing the life of the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. Naturally, this news has rumors running rampant about who will be playing MLK.
