Jewcy Zeitgeist: Wacky Weather, School Shootings, and Church Takes Twitter

Here are today’s top stories in no particular order:

  • Wacky weather is running rampant in the middle of the country. A severe storm caused fires from Oklahoma to Texas, killing two in Texas. The storm also caused a tornado in Kansas that killed five. Tornados have also struck Kentucky and Tennessee, doing massive damage to properties. Nine are reportedly injured in Tennessee. No deaths have been reported there.
  • Five U.S. soldiers were killed in Iraq today in the deadliest attack in a year when a suicide truck bomb detonated outside an Iraqi police station.
  • One French hostage has died and the other four have been released after Somalian pirates seized their ship last week. Two of the pirates were killed in the operation.
  • As the Twitter revolution takes hold, the Church has decided to begin tweeting the Bible.
  • School shootings continue to spread internationally as a Greek student opened fire in his college, wounding three and then turning the gun on himself. "I’m too selfish to leave and let you keep living," his suicide note read.
  • Another college shooting in Michigan has left two dead in a community college outside of Dearborn. The campus is on lockdown but the police say that the situation is contained.
