Judd Apatow has Really Great Taste in Favorite Writers

After reading Judd Apatow’s introduction to I Found This Funny (McSweeney’s), I realized that I’d really like to become friends with the director not simply because he has millions of dollars, but because he has really awesome taste.

There is really no point to attempt a review or write some overindulgent think piece about humor writing for this book.  I Found This Funny lines up the classics like F. Scott Fitzgerald, Flannery O’ Connor; stalwarts Steve Martin, Jon Stewart, Philip Roth, and the transcript from the Adam Sandler SNL skit, “Canteen Boy.”  It’s a very strange mix, and as Apatow points out, it’s not always funny, but the book gives a great peek into the mind of a comic genius.  Couple that with the fact that all proceeds from the book go to 826 National, you can’t really go wrong with this collection.

  • Sweet blog! I found it while surfing around on Yahoo News. Do you have any suggestions on how to get listed in Yahoo News? I’ve been trying for a while but I never seem to get there! Thank you
