Miley Cyrus Thinks “Twilight” Is a Cult

Ask the average American teenager (well, the female ones at least) what their favorite book is, and odds are good that he or she will say Twilight. The series, a supernatural love story between a high school girl and a vampire who abstain from sex until marriage, was written by Stephenie Meyer and has become a pop culture phenomenon. The second film, New Moon, is already breaking box office records. The movie’s stars are on the cover of almost every major magazine in the country. So, why would the nation’s highest paid teenager want to go on record saying she hates Twilight?

One, perhaps she’s jealous of the sway that the franchise has on her target audience.

Two, she thinks the books and movie are "a cult." You know, like the Moonies.

In a recent interview, the star of the Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana and daughter of Billy Ray "Achy-Breaky Heart" Cyrus, compared Twilight to a cult. The 16-year-old, who purports to be a devout Christian, said, "I’ve never seen it and nor will I ever…I don’t believe in it." She later added that the scarier elements of the plot don’t entice her: "I don’t like vampires."

I guess this means she isn’t a member of Team Edward, either.
