Harvard University Appoints [First Female] President

Drew Gilpin Faust, a Bryn Mawr grad and former Dean of Radcliffe's Institute for Advanced Study, is the new President of Harvard University. On her history-making appointment, which followed the disgraceful exit of her predecessor, Lawrence Summers, Faust said:

"I hope my appointment can be one symbol of an opportunity that would have been inconceivable even a generation ago," she said at a news conference. But, she added, "I'm not the woman president of Harvard, I'm the president of Harvard."
