Joe Montana to be PETA’s New Spokesperson?

Probably not in this lifetime. But the football Hall-of-Famer professes his love for the veggie burger in a recent article dealing with health issues that have arisen thanks to his longtime meat n' potatoes diet.

"I would never have ordered a veggie burger before, but I just love a good veggie burger now," he says. "It's strange how your tastes change when you put your mind to it."

Strange, indeed. Funny how that works, eh Joe? Put your mind to it, and a lot can change…for the better.

The four-time Super Bowl champion quarterback started changing his tastes and his ways when hypertension set in and his cardiologist found a blockage forming in an artery. Other meat-based diet diseases that Joe Cool and his carnivore crew are susceptible to? High cholesterol, obesity, diabetes, prostate cancers, Alzheimer’s…the list goes on.

So, in honor of Mr. Montana being a changed man, here are some veggie burger recipes that'll have him (and you) screaming "Touchdown!":

Recipezaar's Veggie Burger with kidney beans, mushrooms, and rolled oats.
