Today’s klatch is beneath contempt. After three days of rarified discourse and a bit of dignified confessional the klatchers fall apart under the pressure of the question, “What’s the most upsetting thing someone’s ever said about your work?”
These five young titans of American lit shout praises to the use of “pork” as a verb, and Aaron Hamburger compares writing workshops to mutual masturbation. And as they discuss book critics, Elisa Albert inveighs against “sneaky bastard terrorists” while Karen Russell mutters something about “slowly porking them to death.” Unacceptable.
