Rabbis from around the world convened on Cairo to open up the recently restored synagogue that Maimonides once taught in. Last year, the Egyptian antiques czar told CNN: "We are doing this because it’s a part of our history, it’s part of our heritage, and we care about this temple as we care about a mosque and a church."
Good for Egypt for caring, but it seems that all public officials forgot to make it to the rededication. Maybe they were busy at home with Oscar party plans?
