Shakir al-Abssi, a Palestinian, is the new face of global Islamic terror. A shame he's hiding in plain sight in Lebanon and that the Siniora government won't nab him without the consent of "other Arab governments." Also a shame that the liberation of Palestine is pretty low down on his list of grievances with the Crusader pig Zionists, since this does render quaky the ground beneath the feet of those who think solving the problem of Israeli hegemony in the West Bank and Gaza is step one in making "them" hate "us" any less.
The Times ran a longish interview with Abssi wherein he declared his Bin Ladenist bona fides, denied blowing up Lebanese Christian commuters on buses back in February, and said he's bringing sexy back to jihad, by taking the struggle directly to Americans and Jews (as though this were an adjustment of the long-running Islamist policy). Money quote:
In a 90-minute interview, his first with Western reporters, Mr. Abssi said he shared Al Qaeda’s fundamentalist interpretation and endorsed the creation of a global Islamic nation. He said killing American soldiers in Iraq was no longer enough to convince the American public that its government should abandon what many Muslims view as a war against Islam.
“We have every legitimate right to do such acts, for isn’t it America that comes to our region and kills innocents and children?” Mr. Abssi said. “It is our right to hit them in their homes the same as they hit us in our homes.
“We are not afraid of being named terrorists,” he added. “But I want to ask, is someone who detonates one kilogram a terrorist while someone who detonates tons in Arab and Islamic cities not a terrorist?”
