The US Court has rejected John Demjanjuk's (Ivan The Terrible) appeal for deportation. Demjanjuk, who was acquited of Nazi crime atrocities back in 1993 in Israel, is finally being deported from the U.S.In 2005, Demjanjuk, a native of Ukraine, was ordered deported, but acquited the case, similar to in 2002, when a local Cleveland judge ruled that Demjanjuk, a former auto worker, was in fact a guard at Nazi death camps.
An immigration judge ruled last year that there was no evidence to document Demjanjuk's claim that he would be tortured if deported to his native Ukraine. The judge ruled that Demjanjuk should be deported to Germany or Poland if Ukraine does not accept him.
Still, Demjanjuk's son remains optimistic:
My expectation is that our lawyer is going to want to review it. My understanding it that it's appealable. They can't send him anywhere. We're not aware of any country offering to accept him from the United States.
