The Opinionated Jewish Man: The Ground Zero Mosque

Today, the ADL issued their statement on the proposed "Ground Zero Mosque," and did a good job of pussyfooting around the subject, until they finally got to the point in the very last sentence: "but ultimately this is not a question of rights, but a question of what is right.  In our judgment, building an Islamic Center in the shadow of the World Trade Center will cause some victims more pain – unnecessarily – and that is not right." While I’d like to personally thank Uncle Abe Foxman for widening the gap just a few more inches between Jews and Muslims, I’d also like to go ahead and state my opinion on the entire subject of the proposed Islamic center: keep all religion away from Ground Zero.  No mosque, no shul, no church, no Church of the SubGeniusTM, no pagan altars, etc.  Respect all the people who died on that horrible day, and stop using their deaths as a political move (I’m talking to both sides of this argument — both pro-mosque and anti). I can understand the idea of attempting to patch the relationship between America and the Muslim population that lives here, and I’m 100% for it, but I’m really sure this isn’t the way.  While I’m the Opinionated Jewish Man, I am also willing to listen to reason.  I’m willing to hear other people’s opinion on the matter, Jewish, Muslim, atheist and everybody else who cares to comment.
