The Opinionated Jewish Man: The Ground Zero Mosque

Today, the ADL issued their statement on the proposed "Ground Zero Mosque," and did a good job of pussyfooting around the subject, until they finally got to the point in the very last sentence: "but ultimately this is not a question of rights, but a question of what is right.  In our judgment, building an Islamic Center in the shadow of the World Trade Center will cause some victims more pain – unnecessarily – and that is not right." While I’d like to personally thank Uncle Abe Foxman for widening the gap just a few more inches between Jews and Muslims, I’d also like to go ahead and state my opinion on the entire subject of the proposed Islamic center: keep all religion away from Ground Zero.  No mosque, no shul, no church, no Church of the SubGenius^TM, no pagan altars, etc.  Respect all the people who died on that horrible day, and stop using their deaths as a political move (I’m talking to both sides of this argument — both pro-mosque and anti). I can understand the idea of attempting to patch the relationship between America and the Muslim population that lives here, and I’m 100% for it, but I’m really sure this isn’t the way.  While I’m the Opinionated Jewish Man, I am also willing to listen to reason.  I’m willing to hear other people’s opinion on the matter, Jewish, Muslim, atheist and everybody else who cares to comment.
