We’ve been waiting for Monotonix, arguably the greatest band from Tel Aviv, to say something about Israeli politics. This interview at Impose was the closest we got, with lead singer Ami Shalev providing some insight into where the band stands on such issues as:
- On Benjamin Netanyahu: “I was once working as a PA engineer and I once made a sound in a Likud convention that got the threat of a guy named Ron Nachman who introduced Bi Bi and he lick his ass all the time!”
- On Avigdor Lieberman: “He is the Israeli Arnold Schwarzenegger. That’s how they get their rank, their badges of honor, look at Dayan, Peres, they all put in their time with the Israeli Defense Forces.”
- On the Likud: “we are not good fans of them, although Ariel Sharon used to like Monotonix a lot.”
Hmmm, okay, maybe that’s not exactly political punditry at its finest, but we will take what we can get.
