I wonder if inside Rich Iott’s head he’s thinking “what sort of a world do we live in when a man can’t dress up like a Nazi without some Jew getting pissy about it!”
I’m no mind reader, but I did watch under two excruciating minutes of Iott dodging the question if he had any remorse about dressing up like a Nazi. Since he gave no input into that question, I’m left to draw my own conclusions.
0:10 Anchor reads Rep. Eric Cantor’s statement, Iott hardly blinks.
0:28 Anchor asks ” Can you understand how some voters may have a little bit of a problem with a candidate that dresses up like a Nazi, and takes photographs, and enjoys doing so??”
0:35-0:37 Silence.
0:40 Iott has no answer. says Cantor did what so many career politicians do: “He reacted before he knew all the facts.” Iott totally skips over the fact that Cantor is a Jew, and like most Jews, unless you’re in an Indiana Jones film, dressing up like a Nazi is a big no.
0:47 Iott says Cantor doesn’t understand what “historical reenacting is all about.”
I’m not sure how accurate that may be, considering Cantor is a Representative to a state that is pretty well known for Civil War reenactments.
0:58 Iott says his current opponent (not Cantor) is cut from the same cloth. That might not be the best choice of words. I read no regret on Iott’s face. He then attempts to turnthe interview into a conversation about health care.
1:07 Anchor cuts Iott off, and asks him to get to the bottom line. She asks Iott point blank if he regrets dressing like a Nazi?
1:18 Iott attempts to talk about “real issues,” and makes no apology. Anchor cuts him off.
Well at the very least, Iott got some face time on CNN. But I’m left to wonder, why didn’t he mention the air tight statement on his website from his Jewish friend who claimed Iott is “one of the most pro-Jewish, pro-Israel people I know”? That could have just cleared up the whole mess.
Or not.
