User Dan Freeman posts in our "Should Israel Take Out Iran's Nuke Plants?" forum (nicely installed by frequent blog reader Michael Nehora):
The US isn't going on any military adventures any time soon. We don't exaclty have spare military capacity floating around to handle Iranian attacks across the border into Iraq, where we happen to have troops that we can't really move.
Which leaves the armchair grand strategist with a ["Wait to see whether economic sanctions work"] or c ["Go for it and try taking them out by itself?]". Sanctions won't work with amoral regimes in Russia/China. And Israel doesn't exactly have international political capital to spare or a shortage of other problems to deal with. Moreover, another military non-success after the Hezbollah war would greatly encourage Israel's adversaries, and I don't think Iran is going with Iraq's "let's put all the nuclear material in one place" plan.
But wait, galloping over the hill in the distance! It's distasteful option D: Carrots.
