There are Jewish crackheads too, you know…

This weekend I met a very nice man who told me about a really special place… and I want to give it a plug here, because each of us knows somebody who might benefit from it.

And if YOU know someone who might benefit from it right NOW, there's no time like the present.

Beit T'shuvah is a Jewish halfway house, a place that offers a uniquely Jewish approach to recovery.

Imagine for yourself a community where the weekly Torah portion is the subject for daily conversation, where Shabbat is anxiously awaited all week long, and where God is seen as a vital part of one's life. I speak not of a yeshiva, a Jewish summer camp, or a spiritual retreat center, but of a residential recovery center for Jewish alcoholics, drug addicts, gambling addicts, sex addicts, and food addicts — a place called Beit T'shuvah.

I suggest you read the full article, because it's moving and worth the read, but I also just wanted to include contact information here: Info@beittshuvah.org  (310) 204-5200.  In case you're in a hurry.

I've never heard of anything quite like it before, but with so many recovery methods rooted in religion, it seems to me a wonderful thing that this program is out there for us.

I encourage people not to judge themselves, or others too harshly for needing help. And I encourage everyone to be honest about what they need.  I hope that you don't need this place , but if you do… I hope you check it out!

  • Can I just say such a relief to find somebody that really knows what theyre dealing with on-line. You actually know how to bring a difficulty to light making it critical. The best way to really need to look at this and understand why side with the story. I cant think youre less well-liked when you certainly hold the gift.
